I would like to suggest starting a listing for class members business websites. Anyone engaged in a business that have a website could list it with their web address
and a short descriptive text describing their products or services. Whatta ya think?
Well, after a long vacation ... I am resuming working on website (along with Martha Kinsella (Leese), Steph and Doug Mendenhall.)
It was suggested a while back that we have a list of Alums that have a small business.
If anyone would be interested in adding their business to the list ... let me know and we will start it on Redbird Forum! Will be glad to post your link on FB too. (We have a group there. Not as formal)
Well the first Class of 69 Lady's dinner was a success. We had I believe 10 women and Mike Mathis. LOL I am sure someone will post pictures. The next one is Nov. 4th at Alfies as of right now. If that changes I will let eveyone know. 6:30. If you want to come let me know. I like to make sure they have a close count. Only fair to the restaurant. Either send me an email or contact me on facebook or call me. We would love to see more and more come. If you know someone you think would enjoy it pass the word. Thanks to all the ladies that got ahold of me to let me know they were coming. Hope Becky DeGerlia- Gray is feeling better. She is ill and had to miss. Missed you Becky.

Just wanted to touch base. It has been a hectic summer. My youngest daughter Jamie is 25 and still a soccer player( she was varsity goalkeeper in all 4 yrars of high school and has played since 3rd grade). She had a sudden on set of headaches in July. She saw a neuro Opthomologist in Sept.and she was diagnosised with a Psuedo tumor Cerebri. It is a sudden onset of intra crainal pressure. She has started treatment. Hopefully it will be successful. If not the doctor will consider a shunt. How is Lonnie Banks doing?? I hope great. Miss all my classmates. Hopefully if my family can get stable I want to come home for a visit. Will keep my fingers crossed. Love to all, Pam
So sorry to hear this. Glad they found it! Hope all on the right track now!
Thank you for sharing!
So happy this website is a welcome place for us to share life's trials and triumphs!
We aren't using half the things this site can do for us!
Last I heard from Lonnie's girlfriend ...
He's been doing pretty good.
I started working on a thank you for the blood drive and I got knocked around by life a little again! I'll try to put up a forum for people to discuss with you your daughter's progress in the Redbird Forum or encourage them to go to your profile and leave some thoughts and kudo's for you and your family!
Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and wishing all a blessed new year. My daughter Jamie went to the doctor last week. She has ben getting sick. The neuopthmalogist said it was the Diamox. She has been on 500mg twice a day. The doctor said it is a large dose and she has not had a patient stay on that large a dose for as long as Jamie. It is starting to affect her immuine system. Doctor is going to start gradually decreasing it. Keep her in your prayers please that it is successful.
Just catching up on this forum, thanks to Norma's reminder!!! Pam, prayers go out to your daughter for her healing and overall well-being. Hope she improves real soon.
Well, my new year has pretty much started out with the news of my son, Eric, after 22+ years in the Air Force, getting his retirement papers this week. He's quite excited, as is his family. I'm so very proud of him and he will continue to make me proud, I'm sure. His new life venture will be working for the Dept. of Defense as a civilian. They will remain living in Anchorage, AK, their "home" and where they love being. It's truly a new life experience they are embarking. But I trust they'll be fine.
Hope all is well with others and will give a heads-up if/when I make my next trip home from Lexington, KY for a visit (could be possible Feb., but depends on weather). It would be great to see a few old classmates when I do make it. Would love to coincide a trip with the ladies night out thing. Sounds like a blast.
Sorry that I have been so out of touch. I promise to stay connected a little bit better this year.
Pam, I am so sorry to hear about your daughter. Prayers are headin' her way. My church has dedicated the whole month of January each year to prayer. I go every morning at 6:30 AM to pray with a small group from the church. I will remember your daughter and ask them to pray as well.
Betty, It's amazing when I hear that your son is retiring. We can't be that old can we??? Number sixty comes up for me on 3/7/11. If you get home in February we have to get together (the whole gang for that matter).
Linda and I are living with her parents and caring for them. We are rehabing or house getting ready to sell it. Don't know what God has in store for us but am sure it will be an exciting adventure!
Hope and prayers for everyone in the calss of 69 and their loved ones for a blessed 2011!!
Thank you so very much for your prayers. I appreciate them so much. God is awesome and I know he hears them. The out pouring of love and prayers from my classmates is so overwhelming.Blessings to all.
I recently encountered a book that I think might be of interest to more than a few of us: Allen C. Guelzo, Lincoln and Douglas, The Debates That Defined America, Simon and Schuster, 2008; ISBN = 978-0-7432-7321-3. There is full coverage ot the debates, including the last occasion in Alton.
I am sorry to be slow in responding. I hadn't realized that you had responded to my posting. No, I was not able to attend any of the reenactments. I can only wish that I had been able to do so. The best that I have been to do is to admire the statuary downtown once a year when we were in town to visit relatives. But it has been my privilege to know the author of Lincoln and Douglas: The Debates That Defined America. Allen Guelzo has published other books on Lincoln including Redeemer President and Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation. Anyway, I think plenty of us would enjoy reading Guelzo's book on the Debates. God bless you all! Ken
I notice that you are still looking for classmates. I found that the "Riverbender" website has a search engine for Alton and Marquette and they seem to have reocrds for quite a few. Maybe some of the lost members could be located there. I'm not sure who all we still need to find but it is a starting point to maybe find more. Some just have addresses or phone numbers but that might be all that is needed if they don't have computer access. Here is the link:
Hi, Norma (and all other AHS 1969 alums), Thanks for your question about Allen C. Guelzo, the author of Lincoln and Douglas: The Debates That Defined America. No, he is not from the Alton area. He is Professor of the Civil War Era at Gettysburg College, Gettysburg, PA, and professor of American history at Valley Forge Military Academy, Valley Forge, PA. He is also an authority on Jonathan Edwards. Sorry for the delay in responding to your question. God bless you! Ken
Have you seen the information about the Civil War Activities? Maybe we can all meet and take the walking trip. There is also a celebration posted at the Alton Visitor's Center. I'll post later.
So what's up with the July 1 birthday bash at Rajun Cajun. What plans have been made? My husband and I would love to attend. I will keep looking at the Forum for any information. Thanks, Patricia Schwartzbeck Roady
