Peter T. Griesell

Peter Todd Griesell, 51, died suddenly at 8:01 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born Nov. 21, 1951, in San Diego to Mary Elizabeth (Collard) Griesell and Edward Peter Griesell.

He graduated in 1969 from Alton Senior High School and later attended Arizona State University and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.  He had been employed for many years at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Ariz., and most recently in CAD Design at CASCO in St. Louis.  He was an avid swimmer and enjoyed bicycling and bowling.

Besides his mother, who lives in Godfrey, he is survived and will be greatly missed by several cousins, including Richard Collard of New Hampshire, Phillip Collard of San Antonio, Jim Collard of Helotes, Texas, R. Michael Collard of Santa Clarity, Calif., and Andrew Collard, Susan Kidd and Steven Collard, all of Tallahassee, Fla.; a special friend, Karen Williams of Overland; other extended family; and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his father; his grandparents, Earl and Ethel Collard and Edward Peter and Katrin Griesell; a great-aunt, Mae Carmichael; and two uncles, Robert Collard and John Collard.

Visitation was at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton where a prayer service was conducted by Father Jim Nibler.

Graveside services and burial were at Somers Cemetery in Corinth, Illinois.

Memorials were suggested to the American Liver Association.
