Very sorry to hear this.

I remember Dave as a fellow trombonist and just a nice guy.

Thoughts go out to Georgia and his family and friends.

I am sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. I have known Dave since Kindergarten and we were both “upper Alton” kids. My condolences to Georgia and all of Dave’s family.

I’m so sorry to read this about David. He was one of the first people I met when we moved to Alton, when I was 9. He was truly one of the really great guys I knew. My deepest sympathies to Georgia and the entire family.

My sympathies to David's family.  My memory of David goes back before kindergarten...David lived on Brown Street near a corner supported by 'Student Crossing Guards'...these were upper classmen (5th & 6th graders attending Horace Mann School)...guards assembled each morning before school at lunch recess and when school dismissed...their 'uniform' was a white 'belt' and sash with shiny badges, and armed with a cane pole with a red flag attached (sorry for the long desription...am sure many of you remember)....David's mother made him a 'uniform' before he entered school - maybe age 4, and he would march to his corner and assist the offical guards.  I believe the teacher in charge of this opertation was Mrs. Meyers - she loved David's immulation and when it came time for him to advance through school to the proper grade, she named David to be the Guard Captain - a lofty postion and great honor!

I too remember Dave Maneke as a great guy and a fellow band member.  And he had the great good sense to marry my junior high school friend, Georgia.  I am praying for peace and comfort for you and the rest of your family, Georgia.

Memories are dim, but the only way I remember David is with a smile.  Grace and peace to Georgia and all who love him.

When I learned of Dave’s passing, I thought to myself that the world has lost a shining ray of happiness.  I knew Dave but for a few years in high school... concert band... Marching 100... and for a short while during the college years.  I haven’t seen Dave since a high school reunion of some decade(s) ago.  I had always felt at ease talking with Dave, and I will long remember his hearty laugh.

From across the miles I offer to Georgia and the family my sincere condolences.
