Tommye Jean (Kochersperger) Hopkins, 74, was transported by the angels into Heaven to meet her Lord and Savior on October 14, 2025, after a nine-year battle with ovarian cancer.

Tommye was born February 4, 1951 in Wood River, IL, the daughter of the late Edward “Kokie” and June (Tomlinson) Kochersperger. She was the great great granddaughter of the first mayor of East Alton, IL, David Tomlinson. Tommye was the great granddaughter of George Tomlinson, the famous blacksmith and horse trainer of Alton, IL.

Tommye was a member of First Baptist Church in Brighton, IL. She enjoyed genealogy, embroidering, camping and fishing. She was a preschool teacher at Mississippi Valley Christian School and a Sunday school teacher for 25 years.

On October 17, 1970 in Alton, she married Robert Hopkins, and he survives. They enjoyed three days shy of fifty-five years of marriage. Also surviving are four children, Brian Hopkins, Nikki (Lyle) Kern, Kaye (Wayne) Snyder, and Sarah (John) Eyer, eight grandchildren, Zachary (Lauren) Kern, Joshua (Megan) Kern, Jacob Hopkins, Emily Auten, Seth Auten, Blake Eyer, Mackenzie (Isaiah) Cross and Russell Hopkins, great grandchildren, Jack and Wyatt Kern and Mallory and Luke Kern.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Autumn Lynn Hopkins. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at First Baptist Church in Brighton, IL.
